Daryl Taylor
Treasurer
Email: treasurer@olympia.surfrider.org
Daryl has lived in the Northwest all of his life. He enjoys the outdoors and wants to make sure his kids can enjoy the same recreation that he has been able to depend on the environment providing for him. His spare time is spent camping and traveling with his wife and 2 kids that are 6 and 8 years old. He likes to surf, kiteboard, snowboard, brew IPA’s and contemplate how to keep our Pacific Northwest green.
We are currently looking to fill several position on our Executive Committee (see descriptions below). If you have a skill set that you think would benefit our chapter, let us know! We can add additional EC roles as needed. Please email us at OlySurfrider@gmail.com with questions or interest!
The Executive Committee is comprised of 5 primary roles: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Volunteer Coordinator. Current open positions include Secretary, Volunteer Coordinator, and Vice Chair, and there are always additional opportunities like the ones below to join our core team of volunteers!
Vice Chair – Assists the Chair in identifying chapter goals, planning, and implementing events
Secretary – Develops meeting agendas, takes notes, and tracks other administrative tasks
Volunteer Coordinator – Connect with our volunteers and support ways they can engage in our work
We organize numerous beach cleanups each year, both in downtown Olympia and out on the coast (usually around Westport). The Beach Cleanup Coordinator’s primary role would include:
We collect water quality samples weekly off of Squaxin Park throughout the summer. The BWTF coordinator would help recruit volunteers, coordinate training and gear exchanges, ensure timely and accurate data entry, and share our efforts and results on social media.
Love communications and social media? We always need help spreading the word about what we do! If you love writing to news outlets, working with reporters, posting on social media, contributing to newsletters, designing flyers and infographics – we need your help!
We can always use program leads to spearhead our efforts. If you’d like to be one of our core volunteers to help out at cleanups, table at events, etc, let us know! You don’t need to join the EC to help us do our work! Email us at OlySurfrider@gmail.com with your interest and ideas.
