Surfrider is grassroots, meaning we run on volunteer efforts in our local communities to create positive and lasting change. We can always use your help! There are a number of ways you can volunteer, and Surfrider Olympia’s Volunteer Coordinator Liz Schotman is happy to work with you to find opportunities that align with your interests. Email her if you’re interested in volunteering or if you just have a great idea! For information on our local projects and programs, check out What We Do here in Olympia.
Volunteer opportunities for 2019:
Want experience with water quality testing? Need an excuse to take a walk through a beautiful park? We need volunteers to help us collect weekly water samples off of Priest Point Park as part of our local Blue Water Task Force.
Passionate about protecting our coasts? Love talking to people? Join us at one of our tabling events to promote Surfrider’s mission.
Love long walks on the beach? Come to one of our beach cleanups and enjoy the outdoors while meeting like-minded people and removing trash from our waterways.
Come to our meetings
We have Chapter meetings on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm, usually at a local Ocean Friendly Restaurant or somewhere on the water. We often have guest speakers on a wide range of topics, so bring a friend and learn something new!
Got an Idea?
If you have a project or idea that aligns with our mission at Surfrider, let us know! We have training and resources available to advance local grassroots efforts, so let’s work together to protect and improve our coasts! Email us at OlySurfrider@gmail.com with your ideas.
