Olympia Chapter

Our Team

Each Surfrider Chapter is volunteer led by a core team of passionate people that make up the Executive Committee. The EC has 5 critical positions, but can include up to 9 people.

Christine Rayburn
Ocean Friendly Restaurants Coordinator
Rise Above Plastics Programs Specialist

She’s been a part of our chapter for almost 2 years.  Christine moved to Olympia in 1996 and was a teacher in the North Thurston Public Schools for over 17 years.  She now volunteers at South Bay Elementary teaching the 5th graders to be water quality citizen scientists as they monitor a local stream through the South Sound GREEN program.  She also visits classrooms of all ages, student environmental conferences and community centers teaching about ocean plastic pollution, ocean acidification, sea level rise and endangered species.  Christine also does our Oly Surfrider instagram so give it a follow!

Daryl Taylor

Daryl has lived in the Northwest all of his life. He enjoys the outdoors and wants to make sure his kids can enjoy the same recreation that he has been able to depend on the environment providing for him. His spare time is spent camping and traveling with his wife and 2 kids that are 6 and 8 years old. He likes to surf, kiteboard, snowboard, brew IPA’s and contemplate how to keep our Pacific Northwest green.
