Join us this Wednesday, May 29th at Three Magnets for our our May Chapter meeting. Starting at 7:00 pm, our Rise Above Plastics Specialist, Christine Rayburn, will teach us about plastic pollution - where it comes from, the problems it causes, and how to prevent it! Our lives are filled with plastic products, and those products often end up in our waterways. Some of it is small, like the microplastics we find in our oysters; some of it is large, like old fishing nets that can entangle whales and sharks; and all of it is bad. By 2050 it's estimated that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, which is why one of our main goals at Surfrider is to reduce the amount of plastic pollution through education, legislation, and cleanups.
